New Year wishes have already started pouring in from our Television Industry, as we are now in the last week of 2011. Everyone is making plans to welcome the New Year with a Big Bang, and bid adieu to 2011.
People will remember the year 2011 for various reasons, just as our Actors of Chidiyagarh and R.K. Laxman Ki Duniya on SAB TV, share their memories and moments of 2011 with Rangmunch.TV.
It’s been a fantastic year for me. Where television was concerned, I was approached for four to five projects which I turned down till Chidiyaghar came along. It did not take me long to say a yes to Chidiyaghar, the script was exciting and the idea unique. Its been great working on the show and the audiences have loved it too. The last time we were in Ahmedabad, just about a week after the show was launched on-air, people were already recognizing me as Ghotak, my character in the show. 2012 is looking bright for me as I am getting such rave reviews from all age groups for my role in Chidiyaghar.
2011 was an amazing year for me because I got to spend a a major chunk of it with my family. I have travelled a lot in 2011 and had a blast. Professionally, I did 1 hour special episode in ‘Sajan Re Jhooth Mat Bolo’ and another 7-days sequence in ‘Papad Pol’, both shows were aired on SAB TV. Then came ‘R K Laxman ki Duniya’ which is an amazing script. We are ending the year on a very memorable note where the cast of ‘R K Laxman ki Duniya’ is paying tribute to Dev Anand Saheb and dancing on his all-time hit songs. We also have a dietician on board, on the set and my resolution is to lose weight. These days all places in the city are very crowded on 31st December. So, like every year, either I invite all friends to my house or I go to someone else’s house and celebrate New Year. This year, since my family is out of town and all of us on the sets are very close to each other, we are planning to welcome New Year together.
RK Laxman Ki Duniya on SAB TV is the most exciting project that I have done in 2011 and will continue in 2012 as well. Besides this, I did a play in USA which was called ‘Me ani Majhya Ghotala’. The play was based on P L Deshpande’s book and was a success. I’ll welcome the New Year by working on 31st Dec and 1st Jan and have a few conferences to attend. My resolution for 2012 is to make RK Laxman ki Duniya a super hit show.
I am ending 2011 on a sweet note because my show ‘Chidiyaghar’, which is aired on SAB TV, has got phenomenal response from the audience. I do only one project at a time and will be shooting for the show while welcoming 2012.
On behalf of Rangmunch.TV, we wish the entire Cast and Crew of ‘Chidiyaghar’ and ‘RK Laxman Ki Duniya’ a Very Happy and Successful 2012!!

While we at Rangmunch.TV had already published an article giving a brief insight into the concept of the show, today we shall unveil the characters of Chidiyagarh.
Chidiyaghar is no zoo but a house named after Late Mrs. Chidiya Narayan, wife of retired principal, Shri Kesari Narayan.
KESARI NARAYAN, Babu Ji (Rajendra Gupta)
Babuji, a man of principals, true to his name roars like a lion & is indeed the final authority in family matters. He likes talking to the portrait of his wife. He gets confused very easily while tutoring his grandchildren. His attempt to keep everyone happy in the house makes him a very endearing character.
GHOTAK NARAYAN (Paresh Ganatra):
Ghotak is elder son of Kesari Narayan. He is a Ticket Collector with the railways for almost 10 years now and has adapted to living in the train to such an extent that he’s converted his bed into a train berth with a chain hanging over his head, a fan that works only when pushed with a comb, safety messages written all over and a iron barred window from where his wife Koel calls for him.
KOEL NARAYAN, Ghotak’s Wife (Shilpa Shinde)
Ghotak’s wife is a self claimed singer and has a habit of talking in the style of singing. You may only see her singing well when there’s a song already playing in the background. Hailing from a rich house, she often likes to boast in pride of her legacy.
GAUMUKH NARAYAN (Sumit Arora)
Gaumukh is an English teacher in a Hindi Medium School. As the name suggests, he’s as simple as a cow. He’s the one who buys the vegetables, milk etc for the entire family. A strict teacher, he never forgets to even punctuate the sentences that he speaks. A loyal husband, he never forgets to praise his wife at least ten times a day.
MAYURI NARAYAN, Gomukh’s Wife (Debina Bonnerjee)
Mauri loves to dance. She’s learnt everything from Kuchipudi to Kathakali. Her gestures thus are highly affected by the same. She thinks of herself as the most beautiful woman she has ever come across. She has the upper hand in her marriage with Gomukh & loves being praised by her husband all the time.
BILLO BUA, Kesari’s sister, (Bharti)
Billo bua arrives at Chidiyaghar without any prior notice. She is someone who has the answers for her own questions. So if she’d ask you something, she won’t wait for you to answer, instead she would answer her own question on your behalf. She’s really fond of her brother Kesari. Billo bua has an overpowering personality in the house and everyone listens to her when she speaks.
KAPI NARAYAN, Youngest brother (Saransh)
The third and the youngest brother in the house keep jumping around the house like a monkey. He likes to ape others and write love letters to his neighbour, Memna but has never been able to propose to her yet. Memna though has genuinely tried to understand what he writes in those letters but has always failed as his English is completely incomprehensible.
Chidiyaghar promises viewers across India an entertaining, fun, family time together every week from Monday to Friday 9pm onwards from 28th November exclusively on SAB TV.
SAB TV proudly presents R. K. Laxman Ki Duniya, a show based on the works of noted cartoonist R.K. Laxman. The episodes and incidents would involve happenings in the life of ‘The Common Man’ and represent his hopes, aspirations, troubles, and weaknesses in day-to-day life. The series aims at depicting our happiness and sorrows and our indifference towards things going around us.

R. K. Laxman Ki Duniya focuses on the character of Common Man who is a silent spectator of marching time and confronts India’s latest heartbreak with a kind of wry resignation. The meek and silent Common man character, a witness to everything, scheming politicians, gossiping housewives and rapacious bureaucrats, has been hugely successful because it represents the new India.
